Classes - Team Fortress Tactics

team fortress classes

The Demo Man is a simple class who can control chokepoints on the map and capture points. However, it's a difficult class with which to rack up a lot of kills. The Demo Man doesn't carry any accurate point-and-shoot weapons, with the grenade launcher being best suited to laying down waves of timed grenades, all without having to leave cover.

The Engineer is best used to support the team with health, ammo, and lashings of Sentry turret fire. He can hold his own against any of the other classes, as long as his aim is to survive and not to wade into the fray in hope of a killing spree. As an Engineer your primary concern is to stay alive, and keep your equipment armed and functional.

The Heavy is a slow beast of a character. On his own, he's a formidable adversary for any other class, as with 300 HP he's very difficult to take down in a fair fight. Which is why you'll find the people who kill you won't be fighting fair. Opponents will take advantage of your low manoeuvrability, relatively short range and your slow reaction time to take you out of the battle.

Medics are enjoyable characters especially if you don't want to worry about aiming. The best way to play the Medic is as a pure support class, and unlike other games you're rewarded with an assist point should someone you're healing get a kill. If you come under enemy fire, find a quiet place to take cover. Anywhere will do, as Medics steadily regenerate health when hurt.

Pyros need to get up close to be effective. There are several ways to do this, and charging headlong into the fray is certainly one of them. Waiting around corners is a good method, but to be most effective it needs to be done where the enemy is not expecting it. Yup, that’s right, camping. All the bases have nooks and crannies that a pyro can hide in, and if you want to stay alive you must vary your camping place.

The Scout is TF2's fastest unit but also one of its weakest. The Scout's job is to rush through enemy lines, and quickly capture Control Points, or the Intelligence briefcase.

The Sniper is one of the most polarized classes; it is either one of tactical precision ormind numbing camping. Sniping is all about position; you need to be far away enough to dodge rockets, grenades and rushing scouts. Always aim for the head; a fully charged headshot can kill even a Heavy Weapons Guy with one shot.

The soldier is the best class for a twitch-style FPS gamers. To be successful with his weapons you will require accuracy, split second decision-making, and a will to take the fight to the enemy. With 200 health points, the Solider can take a battering, and his rocket jump ability allows you to get to high areas other classes can only dream of.

The Spy is probably the most demanding class to play, and when controlled by an experienced player he’s also the game’s most devastating opponent. The Spy’s primary task is to use his espionage skills to remove the Engineer’s structures, and create mayhem and suspicion in the enemy team. A good Spy can distract the enemy enough to allow his own team though a hotly contested chokepoint.
